Hey, stop making my points. :-)

I think you missed the import of what I'm saying, perhaps because you may
not be familiar with how the cited apps work.

What iTunes does is precisely that: deprecate the notion of Win/Mac/Posix
filepath to a disk spot. The user doesn't care/know/understand the specific
instantiation of a file, which is itself an abstract construct devoid of any
useful information to an average user.

iTunes lets you place that song (not the file, the song that gives pleasure
when clicked on) in many different places that makes sense to you, the user:
multiple playlists that you create, in the Top Rated songs (that you
yourself rated), Recently Played songs that iTunes keeps track of for you,
60's Music, because the song is automatically included there, etc.

So indeed, the "song" is liberated from its "fileness" and lives fluidly
wherever it makes sense to the user through the magic of abstraction
provided by iTunes.
