Actually, most of his points are rather valid for unthinking use of
PDF on the Web. It's the sensationalized title that would lead one
to assume Nielsen's issue is with PDF simply existing.
Unforunately, the points aren't terribly well buttressed (despite how
they ring true for me personally) in this brief, and the alertbox is
nothing more than a big teaser for the next one to come. I'd withhold
judgement until Nielsen at least makes an attempt to address the issues
he claims lie with common/typical online integration of PDF.
Bottom line, though, would be to ignore the alertbox title, go with
the summary, and mentally add "...of course, I'm talking about people
who believe transitioning print documents to the Web is easily done
through use of Distiller alone."
