Plumtree bought a search engine company called Ripfire and has 
incorporated it into their new version, replacing the Verity engine. 
I liked Ripfire a lot, I think it's faster and more likely to find 
useful pages than the old version.  I tested it extensively and it's 
really well designed.  I urge you to take a look at it.  It would be 
a lot cheaper to upgrade than to supplement the old search engine...
