For those of you in the Northwest (of course we welcome all no matter where
you are!), I wanted to be sure you all had a chance to hear/read and
participate in CHIFOO's (Computer Human Interaction Forum of Oregon) 2003
Speaker Series: Contemporary Views of User-Experience Design.
We kicked off our series in January with a panel discussion by local
principles of design firms (web, ID and Graphics) who were asked to what
extent UX has been a part of their practice.
Next month, John Lenker, author of Train of Thoughts, will discuss the
alarming increase in mediocrity of web content and ways to fight that trend.
In March, Nathan Shedroff will discuss the role of emotive components in our
design processes.
The series balances theoretical musings with practical approaches - our
speakers include authors and pundits, brick-and-mortar architects focused on
community based design, rocket scientists concerned about industrial
training methodologies, and much much more.
The entire series can be viewed at
http://www.acm.org/chapters/chifoo/programs.html.
Several of our speakers will be hosting workshops, coffees, and other events
to complement their talk.
We look forward to your presence and participation.
