Doug Howell

You're on the list, and I am just getting
started. When I left Florida there were
89 messages, now there are well over 100,
including others wanting copies.

Several people have expressed interest
in the piece, encouraging me to press on. I
have the initial 89 msgs in a full text
search engine, and am thus able to drill
through them to pick out those mentioning
any particular concept ... to compare them.

But being analytical, the first thing I did
was make a list of the cast of characters
by extracting all the FROM's and eliminating
duplicates. I will add your name to this
list:
===============
Arno Reichenauer <arno_reichenauer at web.de>
Boniface Lau <boniface_lau at compuserve.com>
Booher, Craig <cbooher at kcc.com>
Carol Butler <carolbutler at attbi.com>
Christopher Fahey <askROM at graphpaper.com>
David Heller <hippiefunk at hotmail.com>
Derek R <derek at derekrogerson.com>
Ed Housman <em_housman at yahoo.com>
Eric Reiss <elr at e-reiss.com>
Eric Scheid <eric.scheid at ironclad.net.au>
George Olsen <george.olsen at pobox.com>
Gunnar Langemark <gunnar at langemark.com>
James Robertson <jamesr at steptwo.com.au>
John Fullerton <jfullert at lib-gw.tamu.edu>
Jon Hanna <jon at spin.ie>
Jonathan Broad <jonathan at relativepath.org>
Kinney, Matt <Matt.Kinney at bankofamerica.com>
Listera <listera at rcn.com>
Luther, Ron <Ron.Luther at hp.com>
Michael Albers <malbers at memphis.edu>
Peter VanDijck <pvandijck at lds.com>
Philip Hall <philipnhall at telus.net>
* Stefan Smagula <smag at aya.yale.edu>
Thomas Vander Wal <thomas at vanderwal.net>
alfred <alfred at thunderstick.com>
christina wodtke <cwodtke at eleganthack.com>
paula.thornton <paula.thornton at prodigy.net>
=========

Then, being a fanatic analyst, I began
scanning the text visually for interesting
words, phrases, and epigrams to a concept
list. That, I hope, will give me some idea
of how to break all the comments down
down into 6 "questions" to be addressed
in the the socratic dialog, and possibly
to suggest the final point to be made.

I am posting this to the listserver, but
I will not trouble you all with progress
reports.

I will be working on this with
Stefan Smagula <smag at aya.yale.edu>
who has graciously offered to
help out, and possibly assign one
of his students to the project.
