Title: Metadata Architect, full-time onsite temporary position.

Background: MLS degree or equivalent experience. At least three-five years
of relevant professional experience. Excellent oral, written, and
interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work independently and in
teams.

Preferred: Experience with Verity Ultraseek(Inktomi Enterprise Search)search
engine implementation, customization, and maintenance. Experience with
relational and/or object/XML databases. Experience with XML and emerging
metadata standards. 

Search Development & Support 
·Must have knowledge of Verity's Ultraseek(formerly Inktomi Enterprise
Search) and associated modules such as XML, security, and database
connections.
·Responsibilities will include monitoring search crawler activity, scope,
and access.
·Experience in customizing or configuring APIs and features in Ultraseek.

Search Log Analysis 
·Produce Ultraseek reports & analysis of search logs.  Publish results to
MDS website.
·Recommend methods/process in understanding query and access logs.
·Review & evaluate tools to support query logs analysis.

Metadata Development & Support
·Current awareness of metadata standards developments and implementation.
·Refine metadata and/or workflow process for various applications.
·Provide recommendations in meta-tagging conventions for websites.
·Working knowledge of traditional library cataloging, publishing, learning
objects, multimedia, rights, and digital library metadata standards.  This
includes but not limited to MARC, Dublin Core, EAD, PRISM, Onyx, XRML, ODRL
and SCORM.
·Familiar with methods or techniques for content analysis and inventory.
 
Thesaurus & Taxonomy Maintenance & Implementation 
·Familiarity with thesaurus or taxonomy development and implementation for
an information system or search engine.
·Familiar with thesaurus construction or maintenance tools such as
Multi-Tes.

Content Management System Support 
·Implement appropriate content attributes in the content management
production environment.
·Provide recommendations for content catalog taxonomy structure as needed.
·Fulcrum Thesaurus maintenance and support.
·Apply keywords to new and modified content, utilizing existing content
management system thesaurus.
