Further on the concept of a NODE:

This concept comes to me because I
used it in building an idealized
information architecture for a
command and control center, in an
earlier life.  Netviz and ERwin
were the tools we used to visualize
the network of interacting nodes
and their information exchange
requirements (IER's).

NODES emit and accept information,
and within them information is
digested, transformed, and stored.
