Well some of the participants liked "bit"
but we finally agreed that what Shannon
was talking about was not "information"
but ways of minimizing bandwidth needed
to transmit a particular bit pattern.
That minimum is different based on
strangeness of the bit pattern.
The byte pattern
"psychological instability"
in a journal on botany, would
certainly stick out as strange.
But does that mean it contains more
information?
Forgive me, I am in a rambling mood
today.
