Well, it's probably worth pointing out the obvious: we seem to prefer to
have our own term of some kind to get behind. The tendancy to claim
legitimacy, professionalism, and uniqueness. You see this all the time in
academia: people argue not only over small theoretical points, but also
claim that their viewpoint is totally unique and special. We should admit
that on some level, we don't want to be called "designers" because we want
to seem new, specialized, and unique. You wouldn't call your new
carbonated-sugar-sports-drink "Soda", right?
