It's like motorcycles.  Art is what custom bike designers/builders do,
and do well, for small numbers of bikes per year.  Custom bikes, one at
a time, according to each client.  But Honda is doing a totally
different thing.  Which is to say, there's probably room/need for both
types. It's up to you to figure out where your interests and talents
lie.
