Actually, Illustrator 10 can already do SVG import/export (at least 
that's what the advertising says, I've not used it myself).

As for OmniGraffle and Visio - XML by itself isn't a lot of use really. 
Unless the format is documented and standardised its only marginally 
more useful than any other format.
