[Sigia-l] ballot usability redux

I remember reading somewhere that Joe Kennedy helped his son John F. win
his first election by paying people with names similar to his opponents
to register as candidates. The names were listed alphabetically on the
ballot, sort of like this:
* Jones, Peter
* Jones, Peter R.
* Kennedy, John F.
* Left, Stan
* Left, Stanley
If nothing else, this is an effective way to confuse voters (and proof
that alphabetical listings can be easily gamed, too). Cheers,
Gene
