web application designers?  Are business managers (who pay the bills and 
set the biz strategy that the web supports) designers?  But even if I go 
to most good web *development* teams I find exceptions: what about 
project managers, marketers, and testers?  Are they designers or 
developers?  Neither one in my book.  

Many roles provide input to design, but that doesn't make them 
designers, and not everything they do relates to design.  Design is only 
one aspect or part of the product (or service) lifecycle.

You've got big trouble if you start calling everyone a "designer" or a 
"developer."
