That's bizarre.
However, you bring up an interesting side of this issue. A properly
structured online app should be able to offer multiple UIs, each fine tuned
to specific tasks. For example, the admin or data entry side of online apps
(the straightforward CRUD stuff, for setting access privileges, batch
delete/insert/edit of records, etc) is done better via a client/server front
end, maximized for efficiency for professionals/operators. So the app would
look one way for the admins (Windows GUI) and entirely different (HTML) for
the general user. That's been going on for years and is not something to get
upset about.
