A couple of questions on this:
Which group would be the target audience?
[The ID of interactive web apps are more tightly woven with their technical
architecture than most information-display type web apps. The architecture
and structural design of the former are generally done by techies, who don't
usually gravitate to ID books.]
Would the focus be on HTML apps or any HTTP app?
[I see a gradual but steady move towards non-browser based apps that talk
via HTTP. These include Sherlock/Watson type of web info
gatherers/processors; a variety of VB, Java app/applet and custom intranet
apps; Flash apps; various .NET and web-service apps, etc. These all have a
wide spectrum of ID capabilities, way beyond the (D)HTML widget set.]
So an authoritative book would have to cover a large territory for a
relatively small audience (and ROI :-) Over the years, I found that teaching
techies about design is harder than teaching designers about some of the
fundamentals of application architecture.
