Forgot to add, but along with the Arnheim books, the one that I remember as
having made a bigger impression on me was:
E. H. Gombrich, Art and Illusion, A Study in the Psychology of Pictorial
Representation.
I don't know if it's still print (should be from the mid-50s) but, as you
can expect, it focused on static imagery.
