A couple people have responded in the last few days to Andrew Dillion's
"Wayfinding" presentation at the IA summit. Matt Jones wrote: ""We talk
about navigating when we mean understanding. This is resonating so
powerfully for me that my teeth are on edge."

This reminds me very much of a book that I've skimmed, but not read: John
Lenker's "Train of Thoughts" (see http://www.trainofthoughts.com/ Flash
required). Lenker's pretty down on IA for overemphasizing navigation and
information heirarchy. Lenker uses a lot of Instructional Design principles
as an alternative approach. That's about as much as I know about it.

Has anyone looked at Lenker's book at length? In this context of "We talk
about navigating when we mean understanding," does it have anything useful
to offer?

Andrew
