I've been designing/developing information-based apps (online, desktop and
client/server) for corporate use (from moderately to very complex) for over
a decade. I can't recall the last one that relied on menus. Come to think of
it, I can't even recall one that used (OS-level) menus. Yes, it's harder and
it takes longer, I'll admit, but there's nothing "necessary" about it. (I
know we had this debate before, so I'll stop here.)
