[Sigia-l] a plea regarding the list archive & junkmail

When we collectively decided to post a public record of the ia sig mailing
list, I thought it was a terrific idea... I was really happy to see it all
collected someplace and openly searchable.

However, because of my own naïveté, I posted to the list for more than a
year with my work email address displayed in my signature.

The result?

I now have 1800 items in my Junk folder just from the last 4 weeks, 1405 of
which are confirmed junk mail that was sent to my work address. (items that
have been filtered by the extensive rules that I set up in my mail client)

Before the archives went public, I received almost zero junk mail to that
address, because I was otherwise very careful about it.

In the hope that removing it from the archive might somehow help to curtail
further junkmail buildup, I wonder if there might be a way to organize an
archive cleansing of some sort, to mass-edit with a search-and-replace so
all the "
@" signs get replaced with "@NOSPAM" or something?

And I wonder if this has happened to anyone else?
