Here's an experiment I'd like to recommend:

1   Take a half dozen top designers and look at their records of
successfully fulfilling project goals in the past five years.

2   Take Forrester, IDC, Gartner, Giga, Meta and Jupiter and look at their
records of successful assumptions, predictions, studies, etc on web/IT
issues in the past five years.

3   Compare and contrast.

(I usually gag when I'm advised to take a lot of these 'studies' seriously.
I'm sure there's a pill for that. :-)
