Folks:

Down here in México there's an often told tale about a guy that was
fishing crabs. He put them in a bucket and had the bucket by his side
along the shore. A bystander asked the fisherman why there wasn't a lid
on the bucket: wouldn't it be easy for the crabs to get away? The
fisherman answered it wasn't necessary: whenever one of the creatures
tried to get out of the bucket, the rest of them would pull it down.
Sadly, I get the impression that something akin to this tale is
happening in the IA community, somewhat disguised under the umbrella of
criticism. I hope it's just a passing cloud.
