OK, this is probably painfully obvious, but I've always thought that 
the problem with this system is that if the article does not contain 
the content that the user expects, they may rate it poorly. This DOES 
NOT mean it is a poor article. It could be the best article in the 
world but the user didn't bother to read it and seizes the 
opportunity to rate it poorly just because they are frustrated at not 
finding appropriate content.

So, you might be inadvertently getting feedback on your search 
system, keywords, article titles, rather than quality of content.

Another issue, of course, is what kind of people bother to rate 
things? Perhaps it's limited to a certain personality type and thus 
the ratings become skewed.

Results would also depend on whether the user gets to leave comments 
or is only allowed to check a radio button.
