[Sigia-l] The Menace

I've been observing the negative comments and scratching my head, puzzled! I
honestly don't get how or why folks would be justified in bashing a group of
people who are clearly contributing their time and effort to a cause for
good. While I don't know all of the founders, I do know a great many and I
am certain about their motivations. Frankly, the nonsense I've heard about
their being motivated by personal gain is just that, nonsense.
For any of you who have volunteered your time for things of this sort you
know well that the satisfaction of doing good is about all you can hope to
gain. I also noticed these guys raised the bar by establishing AIFIA as a
volunteer 'only' organization, thereby eliminating the possibility of
compensation for all.
Many of us may not be interested in spending our time or money to further
the field of information architecture and that's great! What's not great, is
attempting to tear down the efforts of others who are trying to do something
positive.
My mother always told me two things that I took to heart. 1) if you don't
have anything good to say, don't say anything at all, and 2) if you're
bashing someone else it may serve you well to spend some time looking inward
to learn why.

I never claimed you are or would, only that this is your intent. That
is, to cull 30 bucks or whatever for your own individual purposes, your
Board of Directors and Leadership Council being observable members of a
clique.
Can you deny the whole purpose of AIfIA now is to solicit money?
