[Sigia-l] IAs in non-traditional places

Great question. I've recently taken a position in secondary ed working in educational technology and distance learning. Admittedly this is not cutting edge, but it is also not a traditional hang out for IAs, from what I can tell. I'd be interested to know if others are working in this area.

though I suspect the potential in biotech and bioinformatics holds far more
promise.

That got me into thinking about other emerging fields. So in what other
cutting-edge, non-traditional fields are IAs (broadly defined) actively
participating? Or is there a field which you think could use (more) IAs?

One on my mind as I watch the NBA playoffs, for instance, is (pro) sports.
