I don't believe web/internet is the "native" medium, although it is certainly the more interesting medium, due to the convergence of a variety of capabilities in a single channel.

I suspect that you would only believe the web/internet is the native medium if you believe that interaction design is the predominant skill required of the information architect. I am more inclined to Avi's view that individual information architect's are medium-specific.
