Void? What void? Where is there a void?
Maybe in individual organizations, but not in available disciplines. I
think there are too many available disciplines and the attempt of the
SIGIA community to create a bigIA role is becoming both distracting and
distructive to the communities that are already out there ... I should
also mention unnecessary.

I think the confusion is when you attempt to equate the person to the
role in a 1-to-1 relationship. I guess if I look at what I do, I do
bigIA, but I feel it is much healthier all around to look at what I do
as a hybrid of IA, ID, ED, Usability Engineering, and sometimes even
Visual Design. My title in my case is User Interface Designer and the
reason I do all these things is b/c of the void, but since I think of my
roles as multifaceted, I can break off a facet and hire a new person to
take that role when either my expertise or my resources for that role
becomes a weak link.
