[Sigia-l] facet vs. term vs. concept (was Re: Faceted Classification)

There is Ranganathan's PMEST formula that's useful to keep in
mind when constructing facets I think. The most fundamental
facets are:
Personality - the thing itself, its name or something
Matter - what it is composed of
Energy - the action performed on or by the thing
Space - where this action takes place
Time - when it takes place
So in our big DB of things that no longer exist could use the
following facets:
The Lighthouse of Alexandria (p)
material: Marble (m)
function: Lighthouse (e)
provenance: Alexandria Egypt (s)
date: 300BC (t)
Other names that the lighthouse might be known by (pharos?) would
be part of the authority control in our DB (hopefully).
