Good question!  They were looking for the ability to do remote data entry
without having to do batch uploads.  This web app is actually replacing an
in-house tool and what we call a "Data Collector" tool, which is sort of
this remote version of the in-house tool that stores the data in an access
db until they upload the batch.  The web app will not only allow them to
enter data, but view, review, and revise real time data from any location.
This is time sensitive clinical drug study data that, because of this new
web app and it's tie-in to multiple back-end systems, gives a 360 degree
role review to everyone (pharma, investigator, review board) involved in the
study.

Really fascinating stuff!
