Exactly George!

The negative of the equation is true but does not prove the positive.


I am afraid though that we/Jakob etc might try to "combine" usability 
and the emotive experience. 

An important point to bear in mind is that the skill sets required
to produce all parts of the customer experience are seldom
found in one "resource"/person...and rightly so.

Any industry is built on the strength of its "available" workforce.
If we convert/blend our industry we may find we do not have the 
appropriate skill sets to fill the new roles...as happened with IA
for a while when Lou et al brought the new beast to light.

We of course need all elements to build a customer experience:
o financial : customers need to help generate revenue.
o structural : IA needed to structure information design and display.
o usable : easy to interact with and understandable interfaces.
o emotional : graphic designers and creative "outside the box" types.

and so forth...
but these elements should not be blended like many a poor 
whiskey into something much inferior...the pure malt stands strongest
alone...but complements the other malts from the same region.
