Teach them the proper ways of setting up and using the system as well
as ways of caring for their own body.

I don't agree with such reasoning. 

Seniors with severe joint deterioration have difficulty with
walking. But that doesn't mean walking is harmful to healthy people.

Track ball seems to be a very good alternative for the mouse-impaired.
