Yes HTML is frequently better but it just doesn't store as nicely.  I do
have a few that are Compiled HTML - that has all of the benefit of HTML with
out having to carry a Microsoft reader with you.  In my case I do a lot of
contract work so my desk is always changing.  It is convenient to be able to
travel with my entire library.
