You have to see this application. If you have a Windows PC with a decent
3D card, you must download the 14-day free trial at the site below. It's
the most amazing program I've seen in years. You look at the Earth from
space, rotate it, zoom in all the way down to *car* scale, fly around
like an airplane. You can click on special tools to show where the roads
are, the borders, and even hotels, bars, restaurants! All of the data is
downloaded from the internet in real time as you browse. It's even smart
enough that it puts priority on downloading the information for the part
of the screen in which you are moving your mouse pointer around.

This program is maddeningly addictive too. What a game!

It's also a great example of how dedicated applications with Internet
connectivity can do stuff that dumb old web sites can never do.
