[Sigia-l] Mentoring?

A heads up ... 

I'm considering posting the following to SIGIA-L later this week. I think 
this is a topic that can be used to rally the troops and promote the 
discipline. I'll write up a summary page on the IAwiki after the dust 
settles, and am happy to help someone write an article for B&A (or write 
it myself, if someone wants to mentor me in "article writing" ;-)

Certainly will be a break from butting heads with Ziya ;-)

There has been talk of mentoring in the IA field in various places lately 
- most interestingly it is appearing in *many* IA Job Descriptions... 
fair enough I suppose, given that there isn't many ways to get a 
DegreeInIA as yet. 

Despite this interest though, there hasn't been any direct and specific 
discussion on mentoring in the IA field. Thus this email to the group.

So, any suggestions on how to go about doing this? Is anyone doing this 
now? As a mentor or a mentoree? Is anyone looking to be mentored or to do 
mentoring? If you wanted to be mentored, what would you want to learn?

Replies to the list or to me. I'll write up a summary page towards the 
end.
