The ASIST History Fund was established by the ASIST Board of Directors in 2000 to encourage research and publication in the history of information science and technology. For the past few years the Fund has sponsored an annual small grant program for projects exploring the history of the field and an annual Best History Paper award. This year, the Fund sponsored 10 ASIST student members to attend the 75th anniversary history pre-conference in Baltimore. Funding for the Fund has come from book royalties and individual donations. All donations to the Fund are tax exempt since ASIST is a 501c3 organization. Currently, the Fund has about $18,000 for future work.

Currently, the ASIST History Fund is managed by the Advisory Board consisting of:

Sara Buchanan (Univ. of Texas at Austin), Chair
Lai Ma, Univ. of Indiana
Michael Buckland, Univ. of California, Berkeley
Samantha Hastings, Univ. of South Carolina
Trudi Bellardo Hahn, Drexel University

As you consider your end of tax-year donations please consider contributing to the Fund. No amount of support is too small! Make your check out to ASIST, marked for the ASIST History Fund, and send directly to Dick Hill at ASIST. Thanks for considering this and if you have any questions please let me know, using the information below.
