Some persons interested in the history and foundations of information science may have taken online LIS graduate courses in the 1990s from library and information schools or programs in the United States or Canada. If you did so, I would really appreciate your participation in an online survey which is part of my dissertation research. The survey is open now.

Invitation to Participate

My name is Cherri Shelnutt, and I am a PhD candidate in the School of Library and Information Studies at Texas Woman's University. I would sincerely appreciate your help as I conduct research for my dissertation on "An Exploration of the Experiences of Pioneering Online Library and Information Science Graduate Students: A Mixed Methods Study of Students in the 1990s."

Why is this study being done?

The purpose of this mixed methods study is to explore and describe the experiences of students as they participated in LIS online graduate courses in ALA-accredited programs and schools across the United States and Canada during the 1990s.  This study will contribute to a greater understanding of the student experience in early LIS online graduate courses in the 1990s.

What is the target audience for this research?

Persons who took at least one LIS online graduate course in an ALA-accredited program or school during the 1990s are invited to participate.

Has this research been approved?

This research has been granted "Exempt Status" by the Texas Woman's University Institutional Review Board. This means that this research is:  "involving cognitive, diagnostic, aptitude, achievement tests, surveys, interview procedures, or observation of public behavior" in which participants cannot be identified, including "anonymous surveys."

Please note that there is a potential risk of loss of confidentiality in all email, downloading, and internet transactions.
