DEAN
SCHOOL OF LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCE
THE CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF AMERICA

The Catholic University of America (CUA) invites applications for the position of dean of the School of Library and Information Science (SLIS). This ALA-accredited school, located in the nation’s capital, enrolls full time and part time students on the Washington, DC campus, at the Library of Congress, and at three sites in Virginia. SLIS offers graduate programs, including a master’s degree and post-master’s certificate in library and information science, as well as joint degrees with law, musicology, history, English, biology, and religious studies.

The SLIS faculty represents a unique blend of research, teaching and professional expertise, including backgrounds in library and information science, computer science, as well as the arts and humanities. Building on a 60-year tradition of LIS education, the faculty offers an innovative approach to teaching and learning that prepares students for professional leadership in diverse and emerging information management environments. By integrating technology throughout the curriculum, providing excellent teaching, and supporting faculty research, we advance theory and practice in the management of information, cultural heritage materials, and scholarly resources to serve the needs of individuals, organizations, and society as a whole.

The school seeks a dean with the commitment and vision to lead the school through a period of expansion in enrollments and programs. Applicants should have a record of academic achievement commensurate with a senior level faculty appointment and significant administrative experience.
