However, the cloud environment is neither transparent nor regulated. Those who create, manage, appraise, control and preserve the materials it stores, encounter problems related to ownership, provenance, and jurisdiction, among others, as they remain responsible for such materials without control, and accountable without knowledge. This Special Issue explores the challenges presented by keeping data, records and archives in the cloud, reports on research into possible solutions, examines existing and proposed policies, procedures, regulations and legislation, and describes cases of adoption of cloud models, law, contractual agreements, and technological infrastructure. This issue contains: Preface/Pr?face Luciana Duranti http://bit.ly/cjils392a Authenticity of Digital Records: A Survey of Professional Practice / L'authenticit? des documents num?riques: Un survol des pratiques professionnelles Corinne Rogers Authenticity of digital material is an enduring concern. FREE for members and non-members! Register now! https://www.asist.org/events/webinars/cracking-the-internet/ SIG AH is excited to welcome our special guest, Dr. Gabriel Finkelstein from the University of Colorado, Denver for a webinar exploring scholarly communications and social media from the perspective of a science historian. The promise of digital content, research technology, and social media platforms is not experienced the same for researchers in all academic disciplines. Dr. Finkelstein will discuss how the internet has changed the way any historian of science conducts his research, publishes his findings, advertises his contributions, connects with colleagues, and keeps his boss happy. Several key themes will be explored, including disciplinary differences in the research and publishing process, discovery platforms, archival research and print versus electronic content, and the role of social media and ?impact? in decisions related to publishing and promotion. The unique perspective of a science historian will be of interest to individuals and institutions carrying out or supporting multidisciplinary research programs, as well as researchers focused on the development of digital knowledge resources, discovery platforms, and scholarly communications (book and journal publishing) in the humanities. Webinar sponsored by SIG AH: https://www.asist.org/groups/arts-humanities-ah/ After registering, you will receive a confirmation e-mail containing information about joining the webinar. The Internet and the related technologies have created an interconnected world in which information can be exchanged easily, tasks can be processed collaboratively, communities of users with similarly interests can be formed to achieve efficiency and improve performance. Taking full advantage of these interconnected environments to meet the ever increasing needs of emerging application requires solutions that address new issues and challenges. Novel architectures are being proposed to allow resource sharing and distributed processing of linked data and devices. Peer to peer computing, mobile information systems, semantic based applications, linked data systems, Internet of things etc. are a few examples. Topics of interest include, but not limited, to: ---------------------------------------------- * Data semantics * Web-Centric Systems * Semantic Web * Social media and networking * Big Data * Information System Interoperability * Digital Libraries * Cloud Computing * Integrated, Virtualized and Distributed Information Systems * Multimedia and application * Information security * Service Based Systems Submission and publication -------------------------- SITIS'15 WeCa Track invites submission of high quality and original papers on the topics listed above. Allsubmitted papers will be peer-reviewed by at least two reviewers for technical merit, originality, significance and relevance to track topics. Papers must be up to 8 pages and follow IEEE double columns publication format. Accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings and published by IEEE Computer Society and referenced in IEEE explore and major indexes. Extended versions of selected papers will be invited for potential publication journals.
