ABOUT THE WEBINAR

The universe of linked data is rapidly expanding and our community is
finding innovative ways to link and apply data. This webinar will cover
several initiatives and projects using linked data to improve discovery and
reuse of information.

TOPICS AND SPEAKERS

. OCLC Linked Data Initiatives and Activities - Richard Wallis, Technology
Evangelist, OCLC
Richard will start us off with a high-level overview of the advancements and
activities in Linked Data as it relates to bibliographic data resources. He
will update us on OCLC initiatives in this area and how they relate to
broader developments.

. The Linked Data Catalog: Small Steps Toward a Web of Library Data - Tom
Johnson, Digital Applications Librarian, Oregon State University
Tom will provide a glimpse into the practical requirements of a Linked Data
catalog, how libraries can use existing Linked Open Data, and what
opportunities exist to participate in a bibliographic web.

REGISTRATION

Registration is per site (access for one computer) and closes at 12:00 pm
Eastern on December 12, 2012 (the day of the webinar). Discounts are
available for NISO and NASIG members and students. NISO Library Standards
Alliance (LSA) members receive one free connection as part of membership and
do not need to register. (The LSA member contact will automatically receive
the login information. Members are listed here:
http://www.niso.org/about/roster/). NISO voting members and NASIG members
can register at the discounted member rate. All webinar registrants and LSA
webinar contacts receive access to the recorded version for one year.
