Gray Family Chair for Innovative Library Services

The Oregon State University Libraries are developing an advanced digital library infrastructure to support the scholarly research and instruction activities of our users. We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced and innovative individual to lead our efforts in developing and overseeing the implementation of a forward-thinking, robust digital preservation architecture to support the variety of digital content and services of the digital library. OSU Libraries is focused on building a leading-edge digital library. This position will contribute to building an innovative infrastructure to support new digital library services and extensive unique digital content. This position reports to the University Librarian, and will work closely with the Head of the Libraries' Emerging Technologies and Services department. Responsibilities:
The Gray Family Chair for Innovative Library Services will:
* Be the architect of the Libraries' digital preservation strategy and systems.
* Lead the strategic planning, development, implementation, and management of the Libraries' digital preservation systems and services.
* Research, recommend, and implement technologies to enhance the Libraries' digital preservation and integration needs.
* Contribute to and be highly active in local, consortial, regional, and national meetings and conferences to stay abreast of technology developments and trends, and to represent the Oregon State University Libraries.
* Identify potential funding agencies and donors, writes grants, and participates in fundraising.
Qualifications:
§ Masters degree required in computer science, library/information science, or related discipline.
§ Demonstrated decision-making and organizational skills.
§ Strong oral/written communication and interpersonal skills.
§ Working knowledge of digital library technologies, standards, trends, and issues.
§ Strong interest in digital preservation technologies and approaches.
§ Proven ability to work effectively with diverse users and client groups.
Salary / Benefits / Employment Conditions: This position is funded by the Gray Family Endowment. This is a full-time, 12-month, fixed term professional faculty appointment. Position duration is not expected to exceed 3 years. Renewal is at the discretion of the University Librarian. Minimum salary of $58,000 annually plus medical, dental, insurance and retirement benefits. This position earns 15 hours of vacation and 8 hours of sick leave each month.
