The Libraries of The Claremont Colleges are seeking an Applications Developer to plan, develop, test, document and maintain programming assignments for the Claremont Colleges Digital Library (CCDL). The Applications Developer will work closely with the CCDL staff and report to the Digital Initiatives Librarian. This is an exempt, full-time (40 hours per week), Monday through Friday; some weekend and/or evening work may be required. Minimum salary is $3,367.75 monthly.

Description of Duties and Responsibilities: 

*	Maintain the CCDL digital assets management software, hardware and Web pages, including software customization and software upgrades. 
*	Code, test, document and maintain CCDL programs utilizing the appropriate hardware, database, and programming technology. 
*	Analyze performance of programs and correct deficiencies. 
*	Evaluate interrelationships between programs to insure interoperability. 
*	Maintain regular tape back-up for the CCDL server(s). 
*	Implement internal checks and controls to maintain data integrity. 
*	Confer with users to improve efficiency and functionality of programs. 
*	Write and maintain programming documentation including problems and resolutions for future reference. 
*	Train users on programs and create written guides to those programs. 
*	Implement reporting tools requested by CCDL staff. 
*	Attend weekly CCDL staff meetings. 
*	Work a scheduled library service hour. 
*	Provide emergency evening and weekend on-call assistance on a rotating basis with other Library / Information Technology staff. 

Required Qualifications: Equivalent of undergraduate college degree. Two to three years of related work experience. Experience with UNIX/LINUX operating system and Web server software, including IIS and Apache.

Knowledge of hardware and software security issues. Demonstrable knowledge of relational database theory, standards and software including MySQL and PostgreSQL. 

Experience with a variety of scripting and programming languages such as HTML, XML, PHP, Perl, Shell, JavaScript, XHTML, CSS and Web 2.0. Experience with Internet applications. Excellent interpersonal skills for working in a team environment. Strong written and verbal communications skills. Productive time management.

Other preferences: Experience with CONTENTdm Digital Asset Management software. Familiarity with Fedora and D-Space open source repository. Familiarity with GIS.
