Assistant Professor Position Announcement
School of Information Sciences, The University of Tennessee

The School of Information Sciences invites applications for a nine-month,
tenure-tract faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor,
effective 1 August, 2004.

Responsibilities: Teaching one or more required courses at the graduate or
undergraduate level. Instruction in both live on-site and distance via
telecommunications and digital technology. Advising students,
participating in the life of the School, including service on School,
College, and campus committees, and developing/maintaining relationships
with graduates, and other members of the library and information science
community.

Qualifications: Earned doctorate by 1 August 2004 in library science,
information science, information technology, or related area. Demonstrated
teaching ability and established research record or demonstrated research
potential. Preference will be given to those with prior
education/experience in one or more of the following areas: Information
architecture, organization of information, information technologies,
systems analysis and design, information visualization, information
retrieval, and digital libraries. Experience or demonstrated ability in
design and delivery of courses in a variety of formats, including distance
learning modes, is highly desirable.

Salary: Commensurate with experience and rank. Opportunities for summer
teaching. UT participates in TIAA/CREF and offers an excellent benefits
package, including partial tuition reimbursement for dependents enrolled
at the University.
