I thought our SIG members might be interested in sharing special features of
their own projects or solutions they have found useful in implementing their
projects.
For example, the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertation
recently added a service component that allows self-archiving of papers.
The service is based on the archive system (free software) from eprints.org.
This component provides NDLTD with a tool that enhances dynamic
communication between its community of researchers/users. Full information
is provided below.
It would be great to hear from other members about their projects!

Subject: New NDLTD service: NDLTD papers - Eprints on ETDs
Hi!
Thanks to the hard work of Priya Shivakumar (pshivaku at vt.edu), NDLTD now has
a new service:
NDLTD Papers
http://ndltdpapers.dlib.vt.edu:9090
Many of you are familiar with eprint systems, that facilitate open sharing
by way of documents submitted by interested parties. Typically such
documents are short papers, white papers, reports, think pieces, or other
contributions. Since NDLTD is growing rapidly, with many joining this
federation, such a service should be valuable for the community.
Thus I call on you to contribute to
NDLTD Papers
For example, you may want to post a paper associated with one of the ETD
annual conferences. Or you may be willing to share a report from your campus
about its plans for ETDs, or an evaluation of efforts. Or you may have a
tool or service you have developed that might be of use to other sites ...
When you wish to contribute to NDLTD Papers for the first time, please
register using the online form at
http://ndltdpapers.dlib.vt.edu:9090/perl/set_password
You then will receive a userid and password through email. Save them!
Then you can begin uploading documents (and their metadata) at
http://ndltdpapers.dlib.vt.edu:9090/perl/users/home
We hope this service is helpful, and that many of you will contribute,
making it a rich source of information about ETD activities. Then the number
of readers should grow quickly!
Thank you for your support! Regards, Ed
