[Sigdl-l] Storing and Writing Metadata

Hi everyone and Happy New Year!

We are currently building a company-wide database —
along the lines of a knowledge management system — in
WebObjects with Java. One of the most important
features will be managing images — and search and
retrieval obviously play a big role here. Does anyone
have experience with the pros and cons of storing
metadata with the image vs. storing it in a separate
file? If storing it separately, does anyone have code
for writing metadata they can share?

Also, does anyone know what Getty used to build their
stock photo site (http://creative.gettyimages.com)?
