FYI. The Library Information Technology Association (LITA) National
Forum will be held in Norfolk next October, and welcomes presentation
and poster proposals. This is a great opportunity to present at a
smaller, technology-focused, national meeting. I'm a committee member
for the meeting planning and program, so if you have any questions or
ideas, please just ask! The full call follows, with a link to the call
on the web at the end of this message.

Call for Proposals, 2003 LITA National Forum
Norfolk, Virginia October 1-3, 2003

The 2003 National Forum Committee seeks proposals for high quality
concurrent sessions at the 6th annual LITA National Forum to be held
at the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Hotel, Norfolk Virginia, October
1-3, 2003.
The Forum theme for 2003 is:
Putting Technology Into Practice
Providing effective service in libraries today is all about putting
information technology into practice, to serve remote and on-site
library users, search and manage collections, and create digital
collections. The Forum Committee is particularly interested in
presentations that highlight specific technology implementations in
any type of library. Proposals on all aspects of library and
information technology are welcome.
Possible proposal topics include, but are not limited to:
Uses of metadata
Integrated access to resources
Electronic books
Services for remote patrons
Virtual Reality

Presentations must have a technological focus and they must pertain to
libraries and/or be of interest to librarians. Concurrent sessions are
approximately 75 minutes in length.
For the first time, Forum 2003 will also accept a limited number of
poster session proposals. Presenters should indicate their interest in a
poster session on proposals.
Presenters are required to submit handouts one month in advance for the
Forum notebook, and handouts will be made available on the Web site
after the event.
Your proposals are welcome and much appreciated! To submit a proposal,
send the following information via email (in ASCII, Word or RTF format):
