Digitality has dynamically transformed the role of traditional archives
as repositories for revered, to-be-safeguarded cultural objects. This
three-day symposium brings together panels, presentations and
screenings by archival professionals, media companies and academics
from around the world to provide in-depth analyses of a wide-range of
issues related to the role of archives in the digital era.
Guest speakers and featured presentations will include: The Science &
Technology Council of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences;
Rick Prelinger, archivist; filmmaker Thom Andersen (Los Angeles Plays
Itself); Deluxe Archive Solutions and The Tonight Show with Johnny
Carson Archives; Digital (In)appropriations, a curated selection of
shorts which confront the digital archive; George Feltenstein and the
online Warner Archive Collection; more to be announced.
