Dear Colleagues,
Please do not miss this year's very special event in honour of the
information retrieval pioneer Tony Kent Strix. It's a double bill, with two
exceptional speakers! For those who live too far away and can't make it,
the event will be live streamed. Just follow the link at
http://geolsoc.adobeconnect.com/ukeig1610/

The programme starts at 14.00 GMT; see details at
http://www.iskouk.org/content/second-annual-tony-kent-strix-lecture

Even better if you can attend in person - in the very comfortable lecture
theatre of the Geological Society, at Burlington House, Piccadilly, London
W1J 0BG. Admission is free, and there's still time to book a place, via
<http://www.cilip.org.uk/uk-einformation-group/events/strix-annual-lecture>
<http://www.cilip.org.uk/uk-einformation-group/events/strix-annual-lecture>

Either way, you'll get the chance to hear:

   - *Stephen Robertson*, on "Search: then and now - with particular
   reference to the web", followed by
   - *Peter Ingwersen*, giving The Tony Kent Strix Annual Lecture: "
   Context in Interactive information retrieval"

Both speakers are past winners of the Award, which is given in recognition
of an outstanding contribution to the field of information retrieval in its
widest sense. Stephen Robertson was the first winner, back in 1998. The
2015 winner was Peter Ingwersen, now Professor Emeritus at The Royal School
of Library and Information Science, University of Copenhagen. The 2016
winner, Professor Maristella Agosti, will be present too, to receive her
well deserved award.

I hope you can make it.
