[sigCR] SIG/CR @ ASIST ...

Greetings SIG/CR friends and colleagues,



A few updates here as folks work to plan their SIG/CR + ASIST 2012 conference activities.



1. Thank yous!

First, a big *grand* thank you to Kathryn La Barre and Joe Tennis for their efforts over the last year with SIG/CR, for planning the SIG/CR workshop. And, to echo Kathryn, thank you all those who have jumped in with sage advice, ideas, etc., sharing experience and all.  Thank you also to past Chair: Megan Winget, and communications officers: Kathy Wisser, Dave Pimentel.



2. RE: ASIST 2012

-- The SIG/CR workshop "Classification Research: Past, Prospect, and Pinnacles"(Co-Chairs: Joseph T. Tennis and Kathryn La Barre) will be held of Friday, October 26.  Joe previously shared an outline, and it is sure to be an engaging day. You can still register @:  https://www.asis.org/asist2012/am2012regform.php.  (We aim to get the workshop outline posted on the SIG/CR site)

-- The ASIST general program is @:  http://www.asis.org/asist2012/program.html. There's good representation from the SIG/CR community in the general conference too.  We are aware that some program session shifting will be taking place due to conflicts, so please re-check the program closer to the conference dates.



2. SIG/CR Business meeting @ ASIST

-- The SIG/CR meeting is scheduled on Monday, October 29, 2012, in Mecken--conference hotel.  We have 2 meeting slots:  4:30-5:00 PM (for ½ hour), and again, 7:30-8:30 for an hour.  It's possible that we can continue the 4:30 meeting a little longer in some way so that the latter meeting may not run the full hour.  A draft agenda will be shared before ASIST.

-- Meeting agenda.  We are collecting ideas now for the agenda, so please send me or any of the officers (listed below) your ideas, thoughts, etc. We'll obviously want to address plans for a SIG/CR 2013 workshop and ASIST 2013 events that SIG/CR can sponsor.



4. SIG/CR community...

We are looking strong and ready to continue as a vibrant ASIST IG!  Thanks to community members for showing support in continuing SIG/CR.  The new ballot of folks are excited to keep the energy moving.
