[sigCR] very important/today: SIG/CR business meeting Monday

Greetings all,

First, we hope and trust folks are safe in Baltimore.

This PM, there *will* be an informal SIG/CR gathering @ 4:30 in the Mecken Room unless the room has been changed.  (We can cancel the 7:30 slot unless folks present would like to gather).

The main goal is to discuss considerations for a program next year, to encourage folks to join together and submit a panels, papers, ideas... for ASIST 2013 in Montreal.

One idea that is floating about is should SIG/CR hold workshop every other year given the overload of great opportunities and meeting (e.g., NASKO is a bi-annual meeting).  Please consider weighing in on this topic either this afternoon or via the SIG/CR list.  Would it make sense to have liaisons.

Unfortunately, due to the storm, several SIG/CR officers will not be able to attend this meeting, and I know a good number of community folks who are generally present are not at ASIST.  (My travel to NJ following SIG/CR has made it impossible for me to get back to Baltimore as well, but I will try to skype in, although I'm doubtful given the challenge I'm experiencing trying to skype into a session at this moment).  Emma Tonkin and Melissa Adler should be there, pending weather, and can help facilitate a discussion.

Sometimes the best ideas emerge in times like this, when we must totally go-with-the-unplanned-flow...so let the ideas flow, and share online or in smaller groups for those at ASIST.

I am sorry I can't be there particularly to acknowledge and give a group cheer to Kathryn LeBarre and Joe Tennis for organizing a fantastic SIG/CR event this past Friday.  Again, a huge thanks!!

Sometime early November, we'll make sure to have a SIG/CR meetings using virtual technology, and move forward with activities for ASIST 2013, etc.
