The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, one of the National Institutes of
Health (U. S. DHHS), located in beautiful Research Triangle Park, NC, has a job opening for a
Technical Services/Taxonomy Librarian, GS-1410-9/11/12.  Salary range $48,066-$90,610.  The
closing date is September 18, 2009.
 
MAJOR DUTIES:

As a Librarian at the National Institute of Environmental Health 
Sciences, you will provide research services to clients that require 
searching various sources of scientific information using a variety 
of methods and systems. You will use taxonomies to subject index 
and/or create original catalog and authority records and metadata 
for subject analysis and classification of scientific data and to 
catalog library materials. You will perform collection management 
and interlibrary loan functions. You will respond to questions 
regarding library policies and procedures and develop narrative 
reports, charts, tables, graphs, and statistic reports in response 
to requests for information.  At the higher levels, you will serve 
as technical advisor to less experienced staff. Also, you will 
evaluate and customize taxonomies and metadata schemas in the 
environmental health domain.
