SIG_CR currently has no duly elected officers. At the Classification
Research Workshop 2007 there was a brief discussion of the
organization of the SIG, and a nominating committee consisting of
Rebecca Green, Dagobert Soergel, and Diane Vizine Goetz was appointed.

After a somewhat lengthy process, we found two excellent candidates,
one for chair and one for chair-elect. Both will take office once
elected. The chair will stay in office until the Annual ASIST
meeting 2010, at which point the chair-elect will become chair. At
some time before that, an election for a new chair-elect will be held.

The candidates are

Diane Neal, School of Library and Information Sciences at North
Carolina Central University, for chair

Megan Winget, School of Information, University of Texas, Austin for
chair elect

Candidate information can be found on the SIG-CR Web site

         www.asis.org/SIG/cr.html

Next week you will receive instructions for voting, with a
password. Only SIG-CR members can vote.

Classification research has always been important, and now its
importance is more widely recognized. So this is a good time for all
SIG members to show their involvement by voting and a good time for
new leaders to lead the SIG to new horizons.

For the nominating committee,

Dagobert Soergel
